Child, 2 Adults Hurt After Accident At Bengtson's Pumpkin Farm

By John Dodge

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three people, including a three-year old child, were injured after a tractor ride rolled over at a popular pumpkin farm in the southwest suburbs.

There were 12 people on Hay Rack Ride at Bengtson's Pumpkin Farm, 13341 W. 151st Street in Homer Glen.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m.

Part of the trailer came loose and caused it to tilt because the trailer was on a slight incline, police said.

The three-year old girl was being treated for bumps and bruises.

The girl's grandmother went to the hospital as a precaution after complaining of a stiff neck.

A 39-year-old man suffered back pain.

The 10 other people on the ride refused treatment and were walking around after the accident.

Bengtson's is one of the most-popular Halloween attractions for families in the Chicago area.

Co-owner Dave Bengtson said it was the first time something like this has happened in about 35 years.

As a precaution the ride will be discontinued for the rest of the season, while they determine the cause of what happened.
