CHICAGO (CBS) -- An Indiana State Police trooper saved a man who was injured in a single-vehicle crash Dec. 1 on I-80 in northwest Indiana.

Indiana police were called about 4 p.m. to the 13-mile marker of I-80 where the crash happened, according to Indiana State Police.

When they arrived, the driver, 44-year-old Shane C. Evans, of Crown Point, was unresponsive and a good samaritan was giving him CPR. One trooper took over CPR while another gave him two doses of Naxalone.

Evans was then taken to Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus in Gary. On the way, he regained consciousness and survived the crash.
