In Indiana, Todd Young Defeats Evan Bayh For U.S. Senate
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Republicans held control of the contested U.S. Senate seat, with Rep. Todd Young defeating veteran Democrat Evan Bayh.
Young, a three-term congressman from southern Indiana, succeeds Dan Coats, who is retiring.
Bayh, a former U.S. senator and governor, came late to the race in a failed, last-ditch attempt to turn a solidly red state into the Democrats' control. Bayh entered the race in the summer after U.S. Rep. Baron Hill dropped out.
Young went on the attack, questioning Bayh's residency and the money he made has a businessman after leaving politics.
