Illinois State Trooper's Car Hit Twice Since Sunday

CHICAGO (CBS)-- An Illinois State trooper was among two people injured in a crash near the Chatham neighborhood.

This was the second time since Sunday that the same trooper's car was hit.

According to ISP, a driver struck a trooper's squad car while he was on a traffic stop near 79th and Michigan around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The trooper and the driver of the other vehicle suffered only minor injuries. The trooper was taken to a local hospital.

The crash caused the trooper's vehicle to push into the initially stopped vehicle, police said. That driver was not injured.

CBS 2 has learned the same state trooper was hit by a car on Sunday, when we saw a pair of crashes on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

A man accused of drunken driving flipped over his car. Three Good Samaritans stopped to help, and one of them was hit and killed by another driver who was under the influence.
