Rauner, Quinn & the Illinois Governor Race Through the Lens of Twitter

(CBS) – In yesterday's midterm elections, the state of Illinois voted to determine its next governor: Democratic incumbent Pat Quinn or political rival, Republican Bruce Rauner. Here is how the race unfolded on Twitter.

1. CBS 2 Reporter Susanna Song catches up with Rauner right before he casts his vote for Governor of Illinois.

2. Quinn shares his thoughts on Election Day with CBS 2's Susanna Song.

3. What did Rauner and Quinn do while they waited for election results?

4. Exit polls indicate that Quinn had a slight lead.

5. Quinn enjoyed a slight lead over Rauner in Cook County.

6. Late in the evening, Rauner takes the lead.

7. Just before 10:30 PM, AP announces that Rauner is the victor in the 2014 Illinois Gubernatorial Race.

8. Rauner Headquarters rejoices.

9. Few supporters linger at Quinn Headquarters after the announcement.
