Woman Injured In Chain Reaction Crash In Humboldt Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman was seriously injured when a van crashed through the front of a Cuban café in the Humboldt Park neighborhood early Monday.

Police said a woman driving an SUV crashed into a parked van outside Señor Pan at North Avenue and Rockwell Street around 3 a.m., sending the van through the front entrance of the café.

The woman was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, in serious to critical condition. Alcohol might have been a factor in the crash.

The crash caused heavy damage to the café, including shattered glass, and tables and chairs that were hit by the van.

Inspectors from the Chicago Department of Buildings were sent to the scene to evaluate the damage to the building.
