Over 450 pounds of unapproved human growth hormones, steroids seized in Chicago
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Chicago seized over 450 pounds of unapproved human growth hormones and steroids in March.
Officials said the packages were being smuggled into the country from China and were worth over $3.2 million. CBP officials said they recovered over 350 shipments
Steroids, like the ones seized, must be prescribed by a doctor and can lead to serious impacts if misused.
"Consumers who purchase these products should stop this activity as it is dangerous," CBP's senior officer at the Chicago Field Office said. "The ingredients are unverified and may not have the appropriate regulatory certification required for sale in the U.S."
