Hotel Development Coming To Navy Pier

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Popular tourist destination Navy Pier will be getting a hotel for the first time ever, according to a press release from Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office.

The hotel will have five floors with 200 guest rooms and will be located on the east end of the pier next to the Festival Hall. Construction is expected to begin in 2017, with the hotel expected to open in the second half of 2018.

The project is being developed and managed by First Hospitality Group, with a projected cost of $90 million, which the city says will not include taxpayer funds. The preliminary design for the hotel was developed by architect Jackie Koo.
