Hot And Muggy Week Ahead For Chicago Area
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Meteorological fall might start Tuesday, but summer weather isn't gone just yet, as it will be hot and muggy in the Chicago area for the next seven days, with several days reaching or flirting with 90 degrees or higher.
Monday started off cool and foggy, with temperatures in the low 60s at sunrise, and a dense fog advisory issued for the entire Chicago area through 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
That fog was being cooked off by the sun and rising temperatures, however, and the high was expected to reach about 85 on Monday, August 31, 2015
Once the fog is gone, there will still be some haze in the Chicago area, created by the wildfires burning in the Midwest, as the smoke and dust makes its way east.
Temperatures should be even hotter Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with highs expected to reach the low 90s each day, about 10 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year.
Next weekend also will be a hot one, with highs in the upper 80s, before temperatures start getting cooler next week.
Rain isn't expected to be much of a factor for the whole week, as skies should be mostly clear each day.
