Homeowners Clean Up After Flood Damage, Worry About More Rain

(CBS) -- One of the hardest hit areas from last night's severe weather is Aroma Park in Kankakee County, about 62 miles south of Chicago.

CBS 2's Dorothy Tucker spoke to homeowners assessing the damage.

Judy Francoeur is packing precious pictures in preparation for the possibility of more flooding because of more rain in the forecast.

Francoeur is among the estimated 2 to 300 homeowners along the Kankakee River dealing with flooded streets and yards.

The Kankakee River is more than six inches above flood levels. It's expected to crest at 7 feet this weekend as the off and on rain continues.

Sue Faber already has water in her garage and worries what tomorrow may bring .

"I was up probably almost all night long," she said. "You have to pay attention to what's going on."

Officials are reminding residents to pay close attention to rising waters and make the safe choice to evacuate if needed.
