Hail Storm Moves Through Northern Suburbs

(CBS/STMW) -- The warm weather could be met with severe thunderstorms in the northern suburbs Saturday.

Northern Cook, Lake and DuPage counties will be in a risk area for severe thunderstorms through Saturday night, National Weather Service Meteorologist Ricky Castro said. The area was hit by a brief severe thunderstorm Saturday just before noon, causing nickel-sized hail.

For Chicago, there's a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and a 40 percent chance tonight, according to the weather service.

Meanwhile, the city will warm up to a high of 77 degrees Saturday, according to the weather service.

But the balmy weather won't stay for long. Temperatures are expected to dip back to the 60s on Sunday and down to a high of 40 degrees on Monday.
