Gun Found In Man's Bag At Midway Airport

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 62-year-old man was arrested at Midway International Airport on Thursday, after security screeners found a .380 caliber pistol in his luggage.

WBBM Newsradio's John Cody reports Transportation Security Administration workers detained John Hart, of Aurora, after an X-ray machine spotted the Lorcin Arms .380 caliber pistol and six live rounds in his carry-on bag.

Hart told investigators he forgot the pistol was in his bag when he got in line for security to board a flight to Birmingham, Alabama.

The TSA said it was the fifth time security screeners have found a firearm in carryon luggage at Midway this year.

Hart has been charged with one felony count of attempting to board an aircraft with a weapon. He was due for a bond hearing Friday afternoon.
