Group Seeks To Set World Record For Vow Renewals

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Organizers in Schaumburg are looking for married couples who'd like to renew their marriage vows and set a new world record at the same time.

WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports the event is being called Love at the Renaissance. That's the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center.

On Aug. 22, together with Wyatt Austin Jewelers, the hotel is hoping to break the 5-year-old record for the most couples ever to re-tie the knot.

That record of 1,087 couples was set in 2009 at Miami University in Ohio.

John and Lee Montmarquette are in. They told the Daily Herald their photographer messed up at their wedding 45 years ago, so this is their chance to finally have a picture. John said he'll gladly sign up for another 45 years with Lee.
