Autopsy: Man Found Dead On Green Line Tracks Was Hit By Train

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man who was found dead on the CTA Green Line tracks Saturday morning was hit by a train, an autopsy found.

Charles Watkins, 31, of the 500 block of North Lawler Avenue, was found dead on the northbound tracks at the Pulaski station, 4000 W. Lake St, at 6:47 a.m., authorities said.

An autopsy conducted Sunday ruled his death an accident and found he was hit by a train, the medical examiner's office said.

A conductor spotted the body on the tracks and called police, but that operator's train is not the one believed to have hit Watkins, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said Sunday.

Any surveillance footage available will be turned over to police, Hosinski said.

Area North detectives are conducting a non-criminal death investigation, police said.
