Governor-Elect Rauner To Appoint Leslie Munger For Comptroller

(CBS) -- Governor-elect Bruce Rauner announced Monday that he will appoint Leslie Munger of Lincolnshire, Ill. to the state comptroller's office, filling the vacancy left by the death of Judy Baar Topinka.

"I am deeply honored to become Illinois' next Comptroller and humbly look forward to serving all the people of Illinois," Munger said in a press release. "I'll be a guardian of their money and a watchdog for Illinois' finances. Our state is in terrible financial shape, and I'll do everything I can to help turn things around."

Munger ran for state representative last year as a Republican in the 59th District, losing to incumbent Democrat Carol Sente.

Munger is a career businesswoman with an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Northwestern University.
