Girl Sexually Assaulted In Greater Grand Crossing High-Rise Stairwell

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A girl was sexually assaulted in the stairwell of a Greater Grand Crossing high-rise Sunday afternoon, police said.

About 4:30 p.m., a male followed the girl into an elevator in her building, located in the 6300 block of South Calumet Avenue, according to an alert from area detectives. Her exact age was not disclosed.

He then pulled the girl into a stairwell and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male with light skin, between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11 and weighing about 175 pounds, police said. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and wore the hood pulled tightly around his face.
