Girl, 9, Who Was Reported Missing Is Found Safe: Police

UPDATE: Police late Thursday afternoon reported Emily Rivera, 9, has been found safe.

 

(STMW) -- Police issued an alert after a 9-year-old girl did not return to her Hermosa neighborhood home from school Thursday afternoon on the Northwest Side.

Emily Rivera is a student at William Nixon Elementary School at 2121 N. Keller Ave., and was last seen about 12:30 p.m., Chicago Police said in a missing person alert.

Emily was walking from school to her home in the 2300 block of North Kenneth Avenue, but never arrived, police said.

She is described as a 4-foot-8, 110-pound Hispanic girl with brown eyes and an olive complexion, police said. She was last seen wearing navy blue Capri pants and carrying a small "High School Musical" purse, police said.

She has not been reported missing before.
