Girl, 7, Grazed By Bullet In Chicago's Chatham Neighborhood

(CBS) -- A 7-year-old girl has been released from the hospital, after she was grazed by a bullet when someone fired shots into her Chatham neighborhood home.

Police said someone fired on a house in the 7600 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. Monday. A bullet grazed the head of a 7-year-old girl who was inside.

The girl was taken to Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago for treatment. She was released Tuesday morning. She was expected to make a full recovery.

Police said they do not believe the girl or anyone else in the home was the intended target. Neighbors said the family moved into the home just a few months ago.

Neighbors said the block has been quiet for the past couple years until Monday's shooting.

No one was in custody Tuesday morning.
