Gas Station In Unincorporated Lake Villa Robbed At Gunpoint

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A gas station was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday in unincorporated north suburban Lake Villa.

About 12:15 a.m., deputies went to a BP gas station at 36044 N. Route 45 in unincorporated Lake Villa for a report of an armed robbery, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff's office.

A male wearing a black ski mask entered the gas station and pointed a handgun at the clerk, the sheriff's office said. He ran off after taking an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

The robber wore a black North Face jacket, black hat, blue jeans and black gloves, the office said. He was described as dark skinned, about 5-foot-4 and of thin build.

A canine team tracked the offender to a nearby parking lot, where the scent was lost, the office said.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at (847) 549-5200.
