Gas Prices Rise, But Still Much Lower Than Recent Years

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Gasoline prices rose a tick in the past week, but still are much lower than recent years.

Remember 2012?

The average price for a gallon of gasoline was $4.14 in Chicago, according to GasBuddy.

This week it's $2.40, up two pennies from last week.

2014: $3.67
2013: $3.67
2012: $4.14
2011: $3.75

Overall, gas prices across the United State began the week moving lower in 40 of 50 states, according to Gregg Laskoski, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.
