Gary Man, Shot Killed At West Englewood Party

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man from Gary, Ind., was shot and killed at a party Saturday night in West Englewood on the South Side.

Michael Stewart, 35, was at a party at a home in the 2000 block of West 67th Place when several people began fighting about 11:20 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Ones of the males involved in the fight left the party, returned and fired shots into the home from the outside, police said.

Stewart, who lived in the 2200 block of West 8th Avenue in Gary, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:45 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

No one else was injured in the shooting.

No one is in custody early Sunday as Area South detectives investigate.
