Garrett Helps DePaul Outlast Xavier 71-68

CHICAGO (AP) — Billy Garrett Jr. had 15 points and matched a career-high with 10 assists as DePaul outlasted Xavier for a 71-68 victory on Saturday.

Forrest Robinson added 17 points and Jamee Crockett had 10 for the Blue Demons (8-7, 2-0 Big East), who shot 52.2 percent from the field and hit 10 3-pointers.

Trevon Bluiett paced Xavier (10-4, 1-1) with 19 points and 12 rebounds, Myles Davis chipped in 14 points and Dee Davis had nine with seven assists.

Garrett hit a 3-pointer for a 64-58 lead with 3:17 remaining, but a layup from Myles Davis and a 3-pointer by Bluiett tied it at 66 with 42 seconds left. After free throws from Aaron Simpson and Garrett, Dee Davis settled for a quick layup with five seconds left.

Tommy Hamilton IV split a pair of free throws for DePaul, and Dee Davis' running 3-pointer was no good as time expired.
