Garbage Collector Finds Woman's Body: Police

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A garbage collector found an adult woman's body Friday afternoon in Chicago's Grand Crossing neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Upon finding the body in the 7300 block of South Kenwood, the garbage collector immediately called 9-1-1.

"We have a victim who is in a garbage can, so we're going to need full court press because we know where this is probably going," said a member of the Chicago police.

It wasn't known how long the woman's body had been there, police said.

Sources told CBS 2 that the woman suffered head trauma and was badly beaten, but this has not been confirmed by police. At this point, they are calling it a "death investigation"

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said they were notified of the death around 1 p.m. Friday. The victim is unidentified.

An autopsy is schedule for Saturday.
