Game 6 Of Blackhawks-Lightning Delivers 4th-Best NHL Rating Ever On NBC

(CBS) The Blackhawks' Stanley Cup-clinching 2-0 win against the Lightning in Game 6 on Monday night at the United Center delivered a 5.6 rating nationally, which is NBC's fourth-best NHL overnight rating of all time, according to The Nielsen Company.

In Chicago, the game drew a 41.0 local rating, meaning 41 percent of households equipped with televisions in the market were tuned in. That translates to 1.4 million homes.

That was the highest ever for a Blackhawks game, according to an NBC press release. The game also drew a 57 share in the Chicago market, meaning 57 percent of televisions that were in use were tuned into the game.

That share number peaked to 70 shortly before 10 p.m., during the final minutes of the third period. The 52.5 rating at that point means that 1.8 million homes were tuned into the game.

The 41.0 rating in Chicago is the best local rating ever for any market in a non-Game 7 on NBC.

Monday's 5.6 national rating marked the third-highest rated Game 6 ever, behind the 2010 Blackhawks-Flyers Game 6 (5.8) and the 2013 Blackhawks-Bruins Game 6 (5.7).
