Franklin Park Youngster Organizes Flint, Mich. Water Drive

(CBS) – Travis Hall spent his 9/11's feeding first-responders.

Now the Franklin Park youngster is motivated after hearing the news about the lead-poisoned water in Flint, Mich.

CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports.

He spent Friday kicking off the weekend in a box truck in the cold. That's because he heard about Flint in a couple of weeks ago.

"I was thinking to myself, 'Wow, I can't believe this went unnoticed for two years,'" Travis says.

The nine-year-old called on his friend the mayor, Barrett Pedersen, who appreciates how Travis brings food to firefighters and police every Sept. 11.

"The older generation doesn't think this younger generation is going to amount to much, and I think that they're doing great," Pedersen says.

The Hall family will now make the five-hour trip to Flint Saturday morning.
