Fox Lake Lt. Joe Gliniewicz's Widow Pleads Not Guilty To Conspiracy Charges

(CBS) -- The widow of the Fox Lake police officer who killed himself last fall has pleaded not guilty to new charges of conspiracy and misuse of charitable funds, reports WBBM's Bernie Tafoya.

51-year-old Melodie Gliniewicz is accused of taking thousands of dollars intended for the Fox Lake Police Explorers program and using it on a trip to Hawaii, hundreds of restaurant meals and more.

Gliniewicz's lawyer has filed a motion to dismiss all charges against her and says if they are not, he will challenge to state law that led to the charges.

Gliniewicz's husband, Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz, killed himself in September after the Fox Lake village administrator began to ask questions about how money was being spent by the Fox Lake Explorers.
The case will be back in Lake County court next month.
