Four Injured After West Side Hotel Fire
(CBS) -- Four people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including one man who jumped from a unit in a burning single room occupancy hotel on Chicago's West Side.
WBBM's Mike Krauser reports the fire broke out at about 7:30 a.m. at the four-story JR Plaza Hotel at Jackson and Sacramento.
Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says one person jumped before firefighters arrived.
"They were on the fire floor, the third floor, came out a window and hit the soft ground, so amazingly they survived the jump and are now listed as being in stable condition," Langford said.
It is believed the fire started in a unit on the third floor and spread to the hallway. About two dozen people had been displaced.
