Four In Serious Condition After Crash In Austin

(STMW) -- Five people were injured – four seriously – in a two vehicle crash early Saturday in the Austin neighborhood.

The crash happened about 1:40 a.m. in the 5400 block of West Chicago Avenue, police said. A Dodge Caravan and Mercury Sable were both traveling east on Chicago Avenue when the Dodge rear ended the Mercury, causing the car to lose control and strike a brick retaining wall, police said. The Dodge also lost control and struck a pole.

Two people were taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, Fire Media Affairs said. Two others were also taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. One person was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in good condition, Fire Media Affairs said.

Fire officials said earlier that three vehicles were involved in the crash.
