Four CPD Officers Injured After Squad Car Collisions

(CBS) -- Four Chicago police officers were sent to the hospital after their squad cars collided while pursing suspects in the Little Village neighborhood early Sunday morning.

A bus shelter was toppled and at least four cars were involved in the collision and chase.

Police say it all happened around 3:30 a.m. Officers were responding to the call of a stolen vehicle and a pursuit was underway.

Investigators say that chase began at Ogden and Homan with collisions at 31st and California and 26th and California involving a total of three police squads.

It's unclear how the cars involved hit one another, but after the collisions police say four officers needed to be taken to the hospital with injuries that are described as non-life threatening.

Police say 2 people are in custody and charges are pending.
