Former NFL Player Arrested On Drug Charges At Chicago Nightclub

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Former Denver Broncos player John Moffitt was arrested on battery and drug possession charges early Sunday morning at The Underground nightclub in River North.

Cook County Judge James Brown ordered Moffitt, 27, released on his own recognizance.

Assistant State's Attorney Stephanie Gersch said Moffitt was caught with a gram of cocaine, four Ecstasy pills and 10 grams of marijuana at the club at 56 W. Illinois.

When a man asked him about selling drugs at the nightclub, Moffitt allegedly hit him in the head, according to police reports.

Moffitt, who gave police an address in Renton, Wash., also played for the Seattle Seahawks. But the guard quit the NFL in November, claiming he no longer enjoyed the game and was tired of injuries.
