Former Bears Player Desmond Clark: My Son Was Racially Harassed, I Was Arrested

(CBS) – Former Chicago Bears player Desmond Clark says he was standing up for his son at school -- and he got arrested for it.

Clarks tells CBS 2 his son has been harassed for years, even called a racial slur before things came to a head last month. Clark says he and his wife rushed to Vernon Hills High School after their son claimed a staff member insulted him.

The former athlete says he approached school officials and was charged with disorderly conduct and his wife with disorderly conduct and assault.

Before the incident, Clark took to Facebook to express his frustrations about how his son was being treated. Clark says he doesn't blame the entire community.

He was a tight end with the Bears, most recently in 2010.

Vernon Hills police didn't comment.
