Ford Showing Off $400,000 GT At Chicago Auto Show

(CBS) -- This is the final weekend of this year's Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place, and possibly your only chance to see the new $400,000 Ford, reports WBBM's Bob Roberts.

It looks like no performance car Ford has ever marketed. Ford's Omar O'Day says you can be excused if you thought someone drove a Lamborghini Aventador and left it at the wrong display. That is the Ford GT's target audience.

"We're going to start production later this year and this version that you see here in Chicago is the closes that we've ever had to a final production version of the Ford GT," O'Day said.

Production may not be the right term because the automaker that invented the production line is going to build them by hand: 250 a year.

If the 3.5 liter, 600 plus horsepower, rear wheel drive sports car is not in your price range, you can get a taste at the GT racetrack simulator next to the car.

But if it is, Ford will take an application from you. Definitely not your great grandad's Model T.
