Flower-Pot Thief Caught Green-Handed: Police

(CBS) – A 36-year-old Norridge woman accused of stealing flowers from suburban lawns had a virtual garden store in her back seat when she was pulled over, police say.

A Mount Prospect Police sergeant pulled over motorist Agnieszka K. Wojdyla early May 27 because she did not have her headlights on, police said in a news release. As the officer was interviewing Wojdyla, he noticed several flower pots and urns in the back of her vehicle.

Police had already taken reports of flowers being stolen from front yards. The suspect admitted she had taken flower pots and urns from houses in the Mount Prospect area, police said.

Wojdyla was charged with two counts of misdemeanor theft. She is due in court June 29, police said.

Residents who have had flowers pots or urns stolen recently are asked to call police at (847) 870-5650.
