2 dead after crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Chicago

Five people injured in crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people are dead after a serious accident on DuSable Lake Shore Drive Monday evening. 

Police said the crash happened in the southbound lanes of the Drive near 31st Street just after 9 p.m. when a Chevy sedan hit a Nissan sedan while changing lanes. The collision caused the Nissan to strike a tree.  

The male driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead. 

Chicago police confirmed a female passenger of the Nissan was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. 

Police said two 21-year-old female passengers of the Nissan are in critical condition. 

The driver of the Chevy and a female passenger were taken to Stroger in fair condition. 

The crash is under investigation.
