Five Men Shot In West Garfield Park

(STMW) -- Five men were injured in a West Garfield Park neighborhood shooting Friday evening on the West Side.

The men were standing outside about 5 p.m. in the 4400 block of West Maypole when someone fired shots, police said. The shooter then jumped into a compact SUV, which sped away.

A 21-year-old man was shot in the back and chest, and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. A 22-year-old was shot in the right elbow and taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital.

A 19-year-old was shot in the right hand, and a 23-year-old was shot in the left hand, but hospital information was not immediately available, police said. Another 19-year-old suffered a graze wound to the left leg and was treated at the scene.
