Construction Worker Dies After Being Pulled From Crane Platform

(CBS) -- A worker died Friday afternoon in an apparent mishap at a construction site in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

Emergency crews were called to the construction site near Elm and State streets about 3 p.m. and found the 45-year-old man injured, police said. Crews performed CPR on the victim, who had been on a construction crane platform about 60 feet in the air.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and later died, police said.

Further details were not immediately known Friday afternoon.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
