Listen to Fire Crews Rescue Dog From Sewer

(CBS) – Chicago firefighters were involved in an unusual rescue Friday afternoon.

Crews rescued a 3-year-old, 95-pound pit bull named Theo after the dog fell into a sewer while walking with its owner, Chicago Fire Department Spokesman Larry Langford tells WBBM.

The dog's owner approached the firehouse at 25 S. Laflin St. and explained that his dog fell into the sewer across the street from the station.

Fire crews descended into the sewer with rescue equipment and  found the dog frightened but uninjured. The rescue took about 20 minutes before the dog emerged above street level.

The canine was reunited with its owner after a thorough cleaning.
