Firefighter Injured In 'Suspicious' Harvey Church Fire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling a "suspicious" blaze Sunday night at a south suburban Harvey church.

Firefighters responded to a call of a fire at Just Faithful Gospel Church, 14747 Hoyne Ave., at 10:50 p.m., according to Harvey Fire Department Captain Jeff Cook.

There was "heavy damage" to the church, Cook said.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment at the scene, Cook said.

Fire officials said Monday morning that the fire appeared "suspicious in nature." The Harvey Police Department, State Fire Marshall and ATF are investigating the cause of the blaze, Cook said.
