Listen to Firefighter Injured During Blaze

(CBS) -- One firefighter was injured in a fire that damaged a four-story apartment building in the West Ridge neighborhood on Thursday.

WBBM Newsradio's Bob Roberts was there.

Battalion 9 Fire Chief Jim O'Donnell says the fire in the 6400 block of North Seeley was accidental in nature and was started inadvertently by a construction worker in a third-floor apartment.

Once the water was flowing, firefighters knocked down the flames quickly. But that water began turning quickly to ice, and one firefighter slipped and fell, injuring his leg.

O'Donnell says it was not serious.
