Fire spreads to 2 houses on Chicago's West Side

No one was hurt after two houses caught fire in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood early Thursday.

The neighboring houses caught fire in the 800 block of South Kedvale Avenue, near Arthington Street. The Chicago Fire Department reported the fire just after 3 a.m.

Fire crews were spraying water on the two houses — one of them appearing to be a wood-frame workers' cottage, the other a single-story graystone.

One person was seen being taken on a stretcher out of the second house, to which the fire spread. It was not clear why.

The Fire Department said no one was injured.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
