One Critically Hurt In Fire At Residence In Edgewater

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person was critically injured in a fire at a residence in the Edgewater neighborhood.

The fire reportedly broke out at 5820 North Sheridan Road shortly before 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

At least five ambulances were sent to the four-story building.

According to initial dispatch reports, there was the possibility of people trapped in the building.

Seven people were transported to hospitals. One of them, a person who was inside the unit where the fire started, was in critical condition. One firefighter suffered a minor, undisclosed injury.

Thirty-five people were displaced from their homes as a result of the fire.
