One Dead, One Injured After NW Side Fire

(CBS) --One person is dead and another seriously hurt after a massive fire at a Northwest Side home and now a death investigation is underway.

Police say the fire started around 10:20 p.m. Saturday inside a home on Nelson Avenue near Austin Avenue in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

Most of the focus by firefighters and investigators is in the basement of the home. Firefighters say the blaze was concentrated in the basement -- possibly starting there.

Investigators are labeling this a death investigation after finding a body inside the home. A Chicago Fire Department spokesman said a 26-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives say a man was transported to Community First Medical Center with burns to his hands and body.
There is no word on the cause of the fire and the investigation continues.
