Fire Destroys House Near I-57 And 159th Street In Markham

MARKHAM, Ill. (CBS) -- Heavy smoke and flames were seen Sunday as fire destroyed a house in south suburban Markham.

The fire was reported just before 6 p.m. at 3676 Sunset Ave. in Markham, near the 159th Street interchange on Interstate 57.

When firefighters arrived, they saw large flames shooting out of the roof and windows of the two-story home.

They got water on the fire right away to keep it from spreading to the house next door.

Everybody got out safely.
