Fire Claims Dog's Life In Jeffery Manor

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A fire left a dog dead Wednesday evening in the Jeffery Manor neighborhood.

The raging flames broke out in a house in the 10100 block of South Crandon Avenue, the Fire Department said.

Four people who were inside the home escaped unharmed, but a dog did not survive.

The Fire Department said the home's smoke detectors were working properly.
