Figure Skater Jason Brown To Donate Stuffed Animals Thrown On The Ice

(CBS) -- An Illinois figure skating champion is donating stuffed animals that are left on the ice after his Skate America events this weekend, reports WBBM's Mariam Sobh.

2014 Olympian figure skater Jason Brown is donating the stuffed animals to the Ronald McDonald charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.

"After every skate, people throw out stuffed animals and goodies for to express their love and I really wanted to give back," Brown said.

He says he chose the Ronald McDonald House charities because he's worked with them before. Brown, who now lives in Colorado Springs, says he got involved with the organization there.

"I was working at the summer bash, helping out and hanging with the kids. It was just a really incredible experience and I really wanted to something with that," Brown said.

Brown says he plans to seek out charities to donate the stuffed animal wherever he competes, whether it is here in the U.S. or overseas. Brown is currently the reigning U.S. silver medalist.
