1 Dead, Another Injured Following Fiery Fuel Spill On Stevenson Expressway At Cicero

CHICAGO (CBS) — A truck driver is dead and another is injured following a fuel spill on the I-55 Stevenson expressway between north of Cicero and south of Pulaski.

According to Illinois State Police, a rollover tanker caused the fire and killed the truck driver in the incident. A 29-year-old was injured and taken to MacNeal Hospital in stable condition.

The tanker was loaded with diesel.

The truck driver was ejected from his vehicle and the incident involved the tanker and an SUV.

The Chicago Fire Department was on scene and extinguished the fire just after 5 a.m. Sunday.

North Bound lanes remain closed, while South Bound lanes have reopened.
