Feds Indict Former Red Light Camera CEO In Bribery Probe

(CBS) -- The woman who used to head up Redflex Traffic Systems and the man who use to head up Chicago's red light camera program have been indicted by a federal grand jury.

The indictment is against former Redflex CEO Karen Finley and former red light camera manager in Chicago John Bills.

Bills had already been charged with bribery - and now so has Finley: indicted also on mail fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy.

The feds have accused Bills of taking $2 million in bribes from Redflex.

32nd Ward Alderman Scott Waguespack has been a critic of the Emanuel administration and the red light camera program specifically.

"When you look at how far up the chain it goes, it's pretty clear that these federal grand juries were really digging deep in trying to find out who was at fault for a lot of things that have been wrong with the program."

Waguespack says Emanuel needs to do what other mayors have done: either halt the red light camera program - or hold people accountable and revamp it.

The mayor has said - he is trying to revamp it.
