Father Accused Of Abandoning Daughter In Forest Preserve Charged With Kidnapping

(CBS) -- A Round Lake man is being held in the Cook County Jail on $300,000 bond for allegedly abandoning his three-year-old daughter in a forest preserve trash bin, reports WBBM's Bob Roberts.

35-year-old Faiz Ikramulla waived extradition from Michigan where police arrested him after a 9-1-1 caller said he appeared to be suicidal.

Ikramulla allegedly dumped the child on his way out of town April 7 as the child's mother filed a missing persons report for both of them.

The arrest warrant and an order of protection were issued two days later after Ikramulla was in custody.

The child is staying with relatives although the mother is not considered a suspect.

Ikramulla returns to court on May 5. He faces a charge of aggravated kidnapping.
