Man Killed In North Lawndale Fire

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 61-year-old man was killed in a fire at an abandoned building Friday morning in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

The fire started around 5:50 a.m. on the back porch of a three-story abandoned building near 18th and Hamlin, according to the Fire Department.

A 61-year-old man injured in the fire was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later was pronounced dead, Fire Department officials said.

The fire was extinguished by 7 a.m.
