Missing SIU Student Found Dead

CARBONDALE, Ill. (CBS) -- Carbondale police told us they found the body of SIU student Pravin Varughese on Tuesday. The Morton Grove teen disappeared over the weekend.

They say foul play is not suspected -- but that may change and there's still mystery as to what happened the young man's last tweet "Bloody knuckles . . . guess I was in a fight #backdown."

The sad specter of what happened ended in a wooded area off East Main Street in Carbondale. Investigators found the body of 19-year-old Pravin Varughese.

Last week, the student attended a party, accepted a ride from a person, got into a dispute, and ran into the woods police say. They hypothesize he got lost and froze to death.

"That's the assumption we're working on right now... again because we don't have anything else that has any credibility that it was anything else," said Jody O'Guinn.

The school is now saying their foremost concern is the family.

"Our immediate purpose is do whatever we can for Pravin's family and respect his wishes," said a spokeswoman.

The individual who gave the young man a ride, potentially got in a fight with him and was the last to see him alive, did not come forward for days until last night.

The story could change, pending autopsy results.
